"Drawing by Senkohanabi" is a video work created by using 100 still images of sparklers as a single frame. 
This is an act of reducing the time in which the 100 still images were taken to the time of a single frame, thus eliminating the temporal relationship between the two. 
"Drawing by Senkohanabi" is a black and white video work derived from the same "Drawing Series" (2020). 
The various patterns of fireworks spreading outwards from the centre look like deformed slime moulds in a petri dish. 
The falling sparkler balls at the end of the film resemble a sunset. 
Shimada's work, which abstracts the concept of time in fireworks, invites viewers to feel as if they are moving freely between micro and macro dimensions.
